Founded by Andres Torrefiel on November 15, 1948, the Municipality of Roxas was formerly known as Paclasan, originally a part of Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro. It was named after President Manuel A. Roxas, the first town to be named as such.
[br_tc]Located 126 kilometers from the main capital city of Calapan, Roxas is the smallest municipality of Oriental Mindoro, with a total land area of 8,526 hectares of up-land, lowland, and coastal areas.
[br_tc]This month is one of the best times to visit the town because of the upcoming SIPAG festival on July 28. This is when the town celebrates the gift of having bountiful, locally produced agricultural products.
[br_tc]SIPAG stands for Saging (banana); Isda (fish); Prutas (fruits); PAlay (rice); and Gulay (vegetables). This festival embodies the industriousness and ingenuity of the people for which Roxas is proud of. While you appreciate the attractions you can also admire their culture.
