SuperCat established its legacy in the high-speed watercraft industry as early as 1995. Through the years, the company introduced innovations to its fast crafts to make inter-island travel speedier and more convenient for travelers. SuperCat’s years of experience and service in the South Luzon and Visayas regions cultivated a vast network of passengers and clients, to whom it dedicated its constant advancement.

1995
Launch of MV SuperCat 1 and Opening of Initial Routes

The first SuperCat high speed craft, MV SuperCat 1, was launched on the busy route of Batangas City – Calapan, Oriental Mindoro by Universal Aboitiz, Inc., a joint venture of Aboitiz Shipping Corp. and Parkview Group Holdings of Hongkong. This route used to be served by conventional vessels with travel time of 3 to 4 hours to cross the 24 nautical mile distance. With the launch of the SuperCat, travel time was reduced to 45 minutes with its service speed of 32 knots. In the same year, with additional vessels, new routes were opened in Central Visayas, Cebu-Ormoc, Cebu-Tagbilaran and Cebu-Dumaguete.

1997
Expansion of Operations and Tourism Development Initiatives

Universal Aboitiz and Sea Angels Fast Ferry Corp. merged to form Philippine Fast Ferry Corp., expanding SuperCat’s operations to routes including Bacolod–Iloilo, Cebu–Dumaguete–Dapitan, Dumaguete–Larena, Cebu–Maasin–Surigao, and Cebu–Poro Camotes–Ormoc. With sixteen operating vessels, SuperCat became the country’s largest fast ferry operator and launched the Island Skip Trips Tour Packages, boosting regional tourism, especially in Bohol.

2002
Corporate Reorganization and Fleet Modernization

Philippine Fast Ferry Corp. was restructured and renamed SuperCat Fast Ferry Corp. under the sole ownership of Aboitiz Transport System Corp. The company implemented a re-fleeting program, replacing older waterjet-propelled vessels with more efficient propeller-driven types to reduce fuel and maintenance costs. It also introduced the first online ticketing system in the Philippine fast ferry industry.

2010
Integration into the 2GO Group and Fleet Expansion

Following the acquisition of Aboitiz Transport System Corp. by Negros Navigation Holdings Corp., SuperCat began operating under the 2GO Group, Inc. Two new vessels, MV St. Camael and MV St. Sariel, built by Austal Philippines, were launched in 2017 to serve the Cebu–Ormoc route, bringing the fleet to ten vessels.

2019
Acquisition by Chelsea Logistics and Fleet Growth

SuperCat was acquired by the Udenna Group through its shipping and logistics arm, Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. In February 2020, MV Sprint 1 joined the fleet as the first Philippine vessel with an all-female crew. By the end of 2019, SuperCat operated eleven vessels serving Batangas–Calapan, Bacolod–Iloilo, Cebu–Ormoc, and Cebu–Tagbilaran routes.
